Western Australia FIFO Jobs

-

Western Australia has more fly-in fly-out work than the rest of the country combined. Iron ore in the Pilbara, gold around Kalgoorlie, Leonora and Cue, lithium and nickel in the Goldfields and the South West, and the gas projects up north all run on FIFO crews, nearly all flying out of Perth.

What the rosters look like

The common WA pattern is 2:1, which means two weeks on site and one week home. Some maintenance and construction crews run 2:2, and a few operations use 8/6. The employer states the roster in every job here, and the roster is in the job title so you can scan for it.

What employers ask for

For site work you will need a current driver's licence, a police clearance in many cases, and a pre-employment medical that includes a drug and alcohol screen. Trades need their Australian qualification and often a high risk work licence. Operators need the RII competency units for the machine. Most employers in this state fly you from Perth and cover the camp and meals while you are on site.

Employers that have listed WA roles here include MACA, BHP, GenusPlus Group, Sodexo and Compass Group. If you want to look at the region rather than the state, try the Pilbara page or the Perth page for roles that fly from the city.
