DIDO Jobs

-

DIDO stands for drive-in drive-out. You drive yourself to the site at the start of the swing, live in the camp while you are there, and drive home at the end. It works where the site is within a few hours of a regional town, and it is common in the Queensland coal fields, around Olympic Dam in South Australia, in the Hunter Valley and in parts of the Goldfields.

Why people choose it

You are not tied to a charter flight schedule, you can live in a regional town where housing is cheaper, and some employers pay a travel allowance for the drive. The camp is usually the same one the FIFO crews use. Many jobs on this board are offered as FIFO or DIDO, and the title says which.

Who has listed DIDO roles here

BHP offers most Olympic Dam roles as residential, DIDO or FIFO, and Civeo has listed village jobs in the Bowen Basin and around Narrabri on 14:7 DIDO. Check the listing for where the employer expects you to drive from, because a DIDO job that assumes you live in Moranbah is different from one that accepts Mackay.

Queensland DIDO roles are also on the Moranbah page. South Australian ones are on the Adelaide page.
