Peabody is looking for an experienced Outbye Belt Fitter to join the Outbye team at Centurion Mine, its underground metallurgical coal operation in Queensland. Reporting to the Outbye Superintendent, you will keep the mine's underground conveyor belt systems safe, reliable and running. This is a hands-on underground role on a 7/7 roster, with the choice of living in Moranbah, driving in and out, or flying in and out from Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance on underground conveyor systems
- Inspect, maintain and repair belts, drive units, gearboxes, rollers, idlers, pulleys, scrapers, take-up systems, structures, transfer stations and chutes
- Handle belt tracking and alignment, splicing, clip replacement and belt repairs
- Replace worn or damaged components and diagnose mechanical failures
- Find ways to improve conveyor reliability, cut downtime and remove recurring defects
- Support shutdown planning and execution
- Complete pre-start inspections, work orders and maintenance records in the Maintenance Management System
About You
- At least five years as a Mechanical Technician or Fitter in underground mining
- Extensive experience maintaining underground conveyor belt systems, including installing and replacing belt clips
- Experience with production panel conveyors, boot ends and panel belts, plus drift conveyors, mains belts and overland systems
- Good knowledge of underground coal mining conveyor systems
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
- A Belt Splicing Qualification is desirable
- A Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent is desirable but not essential
