A 14/7 roster is fourteen days on site and seven days at home. It is the most common roster in camp and village work, and it is also used by mining contractors and offshore vessel crews.

Where the 14/7 jobs are

The village operators are the biggest source. Civeo, Sodexo and Compass Group have all listed 14/7 roles here for chefs, housekeeping supervisors, service attendants, facilities attendants, guest services and bus drivers, at villages in the Bowen Basin, the Gunnedah Basin, the Pilbara and the WA Goldfields. Trades such as HVAC technicians and village maintenance electricians are advertised on the same roster. Flights typically leave from Perth, Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Sydney or Darwin depending on the site.

What the swing is like

Fourteen days is long enough that most people settle into the site rhythm, and camp roles usually run ten or eleven hour days rather than twelve. The week off is a full week because travel is normally on roster days. Camp work does not need mining tickets; a police check, a medical and food safety or RSA certificates cover most roles.
