FIFO Camp and Village Jobs

Every FIFO mine has a village next to it, and the village is a business in its own right. Civeo, Sodexo, Compass Group (ESS) and the miners' own camp teams employ thousands of people to run accommodation, kitchens, cleaning, transport and maintenance, on the same rosters and flights as the mine crews.

The roles

Housekeeping and utilities are the entry point: cleaning rooms, laundry, kitchen hand and dining room work, often advertised as service attendant or utility all rounder. Above that sit chefs and cooks, housekeeping and hospitality supervisors, guest services and reception, village managers, bus drivers, airport attendants and aerodrome reporting officers. Trades keep the village running too: electricians, appliance technicians, HVAC and refrigeration mechanics and general maintenance.

What you need

Most camp roles ask for a police check, a pre-employment medical and a willingness to do 14/7 or similar rosters. Kitchen roles want food safety certificates and chefs need their trade papers. Bus drivers need an MR or HR licence. No mining tickets are needed, which makes camp work one of the most common ways into FIFO for people with no site experience.
