Housekeeping Jobs FIFO
Housekeeping at a mine village means turning over rooms between swings and servicing them during a swing, the same as a hotel but at a scale of several hundred rooms and with a crew that arrives and leaves on a charter flight. Housekeepers, room attendants and laundry staff are hired by the village operators on FIFO and DIDO rosters.
What employers ask for
No qualification. A police clearance, the pre-employment medical and a manual driver's licence are the usual requirements. Hotel or commercial housekeeping experience is preferred. The work is physical and the shifts are long, so fitness matters.
Rosters and conditions
Rosters are typically 2:1 from Perth in WA and 14/7 from Brisbane or by road in Queensland, with the room and meals covered on site. Civeo, Sodexo and Compass Group have all listed village roles on this board.
Cleaning roles beyond the rooms are on the cleaning page, and dining room and reception roles are on the hospitality page.
