About the Role
Fortescue is hiring a Field Service Engineer for Battery Power Systems at its Eliwana and Flying Fish mine, about 90 km west of Tom Price in the Pilbara. The role works 8 days on and 6 days off, fly-in fly-out from Perth, and sits in the Fortescue Zero team. You will support the rollout and day-to-day running of Fortescue's battery-electric mining fleet and Fortescue Zero power systems. Fortescue notes it may close applications early once it has a suitable pool of candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing and repairs on battery-electric equipment
- Diagnose faults in high-voltage power, charging interfaces, controls, cooling and auxiliary systems
- Respond to breakdowns and arrange prompt corrective action
- Use diagnostic tools, drawings and fleet data to find faults and confirm repairs
- Run functional tests and return-to-service inspections after maintenance
- Keep accurate service records, fault reports and work orders, and support root-cause investigations
About You
- An engineering degree, or a trade or apprenticeship in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics or heavy equipment
- At least five years in field service, heavy equipment maintenance, commissioning or technical support
- Hands-on experience with high-voltage electrical systems
- Current HV training and authorisation, or the ability to obtain it
- Experience in mining or industrial operations and their safety systems
- A current driver's licence and the ability to meet site access, roster and fitness requirements
- Battery-electric vehicle, energy storage, power electronics or electric drive experience is highly regarded
