Supervisor FIFO Jobs
Supervisor roles are where experienced operators, trades and hospitality people step up. A mining supervisor runs a crew of operators through a shift. A maintenance supervisor runs the fitters and electricians. A village supervisor runs the cleaning and kitchen teams. Above them, superintendents look after a department across all crews.
What employers ask for
Years of hands-on experience in the discipline, plus a supervisor's or frontline leadership qualification such as a Certificate IV in Frontline Management or the site's own supervisor training. In Queensland coal, an S1, S2 and S3 supervisor competency set is expected. In WA, employers often want the site senior's or the relevant statutory ticket for the role. Strong safety leadership is what every listing emphasises, because the supervisor is accountable for the crew.
Rosters
Supervisors work the same roster as their crew: 2:1, 8/6 or 7/7 depending on the site. Rail trainers and other specialist supervisory roles sometimes run 8/6 with flights from Perth, which is how BHP listed a specialist rail trainer role at Port Hedland on this board.
