Engineer FIFO Jobs
Engineering roles on mine sites cover mining engineers who plan the pit or the underground, maintenance and reliability engineers who look after the fleet and the fixed plant, project engineers on expansions and shutdowns, and the planners and schedulers who tie it together. Most are FIFO on the same roster as the site, with some split between site and a city office.
What employers ask for
An engineering degree in the relevant discipline is the baseline, and for mining engineering roles some states require or prefer statutory tickets such as a first class mine manager's certificate for senior positions. Graduate and vacation programs run by the large miners are the usual entry point, and those appear here when they are advertised as site based.
Rosters
Engineers commonly work 8/6 or 5/2/4/3 style rosters that give a mix of site and office time, rather than the 2:1 of the production crews. Project engineers on construction may run longer swings. Pay is stated on the listing only when the employer publishes it.
BHP and Tronox have listed engineering roles on this board in the past. Supervisory and management roles are on the supervisor page.
