About the Role
BHP is hiring a Rail Transport Supervisor for its Rail Operations Mines team, which moves iron ore from the Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) mines across its heavy haul network. This is a FIFO, site based position on a 14/14 roster, worked as seven day shifts and seven night shifts followed by fourteen days off. You report to the Rail Operations Superintendent and lead the Rail Transport Technicians who run the train loadouts and drive trains on the mainline.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mainline train drivers and support staff to deliver the daily railing schedule safely
- Keep the team compliant with the Rail Rulebook, the Rail Safety Management Plan and Rail Safety National Law
- Manage risk through field leadership, in-field verification and workplace inspections
- Report hazards and events, run investigations and follow through on corrective actions
- Work with Rail Control, Rollingstock, Maintenance and Scheduling to recover from breakdowns and delays
- Build a supportive, engaged culture at the depot and drive improvements in safety and productivity
About You
- Experience as a train driver, live run coordinator or rail operations leader is highly regarded
- A strong safety focus and the ability to identify and manage operational risk
- Good judgement under pressure and comfort working remotely with a high degree of autonomy
- Solid computer skills, including Word and Excel, and the ability to learn BHP scheduling and reporting systems
- Willingness to complete pre-employment checks, which can include a medical, drug and alcohol testing, police check and right to work check
