Project Manager FIFO Jobs

Project managers in the resources industry spend much of their time on site, particularly during construction, commissioning and major shutdowns. The roles on this page are the ones the employer advertised as FIFO or site based rather than as a city office job with occasional site visits.

What employers ask for

A background in engineering, construction or a trade, with a track record delivering projects on live mine sites. Employers look for experience with contractor management, cost and schedule control, and the safety systems that apply on a mining lease. Formal project management qualifications help, but demonstrated delivery on comparable projects is what the listings ask for first.

Rosters

Project roles often run on the project's own roster rather than the mine's, so 3:1, 4:1 or 8/6 all appear. Many are fixed term for the life of the project. The listing states the roster and the term when the employer gives them.
