About the Role

Covalent Lithium is hiring a permanent Mechanical Fitter (Leading Hand) for its Mt Holland lithium mine and concentrator, between Southern Cross and Hyden in WA. The role flies in and out of Perth on an 8:6 or 7:7 roster. You will report to the Mechanical Supervisor, help keep the fixed plant running to production targets, step up as supervisor when needed and give night shift support to the shutdown team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help the Mechanical Supervisor deliver work instructions and planning
  • Supervise and allocate tasks to a crew of up to eight
  • Run daily prestarts, toolbox talks and safety checks such as Take 5s and JHAs
  • Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on fixed plant to OEM and site standards
  • Report defects and reliability issues and record work and equipment history in the CMMS
  • Take part in shutdowns, project work and improvement initiatives
  • Work with operations, reliability and planning teams and keep work areas tidy

About You

  • Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical) and at least three years post trade in a mining or processing plant
  • One to two years of leading hand or similar experience
  • Hands-on experience with crushing, screening, milling and conveyor systems
  • A WA C class driver's licence and the ability to hold a Section 26 supervisor appointment
  • Working at heights and confined space tickets
  • Dogging, EWP and forklift high risk licences

About Covalent Lithium

Covalent Lithium is a joint venture between Wesfarmers and SQM that runs the Mt Holland mine and concentrator and the Kwinana lithium refinery. Mt Holland is now at full production, and an approved expansion is set to double spodumene concentrate output.
