FIFO Mechanic Jobs
Every mine site runs a fleet of light vehicles, buses, service trucks and small plant alongside the big mining equipment, and it all needs servicing. Mechanic roles on this page cover light vehicle mechanics, plant mechanics, auto electricians and general maintenance fitters who look after that fleet and the smaller machines around a site or a camp.
What employers ask for
A Certificate III in Light Vehicle or Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or the auto electrical equivalent, plus a manual driver's licence. Sites value experience on Toyota Landcruisers and Hilux because that is what most of the fleet is. A forklift ticket and an EWP ticket come up often. Rosters and where
Workshop roles on established mines run 2:1 or 8/6 in WA and 7/7 in Queensland. Contractors sometimes offer 2:2. MACA and BHP have both listed mechanical roles on this board.
