Electrician FIFO Jobs

-

Electricians are among the best paid trades in FIFO and among the hardest for employers to fill. Mine sites need maintenance electricians for the fixed plant, high voltage electricians for the substations and reticulation, and electrical fitters and instrument technicians for the control systems. Contractors building power lines and renewables on mine leases need line and installation crews as well.

What employers ask for

An Australian electrical licence for the state you will work in is the starting point. HV roles want HV switching experience and often a switching ticket for the site's voltage. Instrumentation roles want the instrument trade or a dual trade. Most sites ask for an EWP ticket and working at heights. Some want a Standard 11 in Queensland or the WA equivalent site inductions, which they arrange.

MACA has listed high voltage electricians at Cape Preston on a 2:2 roster, and GenusPlus Group lists electricians and linespersons for power projects on WA mine sites on 2:1. BHP lists electrical roles across its operations.
