FIFO HVAC and Refrigeration Jobs

-

A village of several hundred rooms in the Pilbara or the Goldfields is a village of several hundred air conditioners, plus the kitchen cool rooms and freezers, the plant and control room cooling, and the workshop systems. Refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics keep all of it running, and in summer they are the busiest trade on site.

What employers ask for

A Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and an ARCtick refrigerant handling licence are the two essentials. Most sites also want a restricted electrical licence for disconnect and reconnect work, plus working at heights and an EWP ticket. Experience with split systems in volume, and with commercial refrigeration, matches the village work; plant room and chiller experience matches the processing side.

Rosters

Village maintenance roles are usually 2:1 or 8/6 in WA and 14/7 in Queensland, hired either by the village operator or by a facilities contractor working for the mine. Flights, camp and meals are covered on swing. The village operators Civeo, Sodexo and Compass Group have all listed roles on this board.

Other village trades are on the plumbing page and the electrician page.
