FIFO Safety and Training Jobs

Safety and training roles sit in every mining operation. Health, safety and environment advisors support the crews on shift, investigate incidents and run the site's safety systems. Trainers and assessors sign people off on machines, procedures and site competencies. Emergency response coordinators run the site's rescue capability and drills.

What employers ask for

HSE roles want a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety at minimum, with a diploma or degree for advisor and superintendent levels, plus mining experience. Trainer and assessor roles want the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus deep experience in what you are training, whether that is haul trucks, rail or processing. Emergency response roles want fire and rescue qualifications and often a paramedic or nursing background.

BHP has listed a specialist rail trainer at Port Hedland on an 8/6 roster. Trainers on the mobile fleet, in the processing plant and in the villages are advertised regularly by the larger operators.
