FIFO Medic and Paramedic Jobs

-

Mine sites and large camps keep medical cover on site around the clock. Paramedics and medics staff the medical centre, respond to incidents in the pit and the plant, run health checks and drug and alcohol testing, and train the site's emergency response team. Emergency services officers combine that medical role with fire and rescue.

What employers ask for

Paramedic roles want AHPRA registration as a paramedic. Medic and ESO roles are more varied: employers ask for a Certificate IV in Health Care or an advanced first aid and remote area first aid background, plus fire and rescue units such as those in the Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue. A manual licence is essential, an HR licence helps for driving the ambulance, and remote area experience is valued.

Rosters

Medical cover follows the site roster, so 2:1 or 8/6 in WA, 7/7 in Queensland, and 2:1 in the Goldfields. The health services contractors and the mining companies both hire directly, and only direct employers appear on this board.

Registered nurse roles are on the nurse page. Safety roles are on the safety and training page.
