Nurse FIFO Jobs

Larger mine sites run their own medical centre, staffed around the clock by registered nurses and paramedics who handle everything from pre-start medicals and injury management to emergency response. Nurses on these sites are FIFO like everyone else, and the roles are usually filled by the mining company or by a health services contractor working directly for them.

What employers ask for

Current AHPRA registration as a registered nurse, and for most roles some emergency or critical care background because you may be the most qualified person for hundreds of kilometres. Occupational health experience, including drug and alcohol testing and audiometry, is valued. Employers often want an advanced life support certificate and a manual driver's licence. Remote area experience is a strong advantage but not always required.

Rosters

Site medical rosters are commonly 2:1 or 8/6 in WA and 7/7 in Queensland, with the same flights, camp and meals as the crews.
