Newman FIFO Jobs
Newman is BHP's Pilbara iron ore town. Mount Whaleback, the Eastern Ridge mines and the newer Gudai-Darri and South Flank operations to the north all draw on Newman for their workforce, and the town has a large FIFO camp population alongside its residents.
The jobs
BHP has listed fixed plant electricians, auto electricians and mobile workshop roles at Newman on a choice of 8/6 or 7/7 rosters from Perth. WesTrac has listed heavy diesel mechanics for the Gudai-Darri fleet. Beyond those, the Newman area employs dump truck and excavator operators, drill and blast crews, processing plant operators, rail crews and every mechanical and electrical trade.
Getting there
Newman has a commercial airport with daily flights from Perth, which is why so many roles are offered as FIFO from Perth rather than charter. Residential and relocation packages are also common, and some employers offer both.
