Boilermaker FIFO Jobs
Boilermakers are in constant demand on mine sites because everything that crushes, conveys or carries ore wears out and needs to be cut, welded and rebuilt. The work ranges from planned shutdowns on the fixed plant to running repairs on crushers and screens, liner changes, chute and hopper fabrication, and structural repair around the plant.
What employers ask for
A Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) is the standard qualification. Employers usually want experience on mining plant rather than general fabrication, and they look for confined space, working at heights and EWP tickets because that is where the work is. Some sites want you to hold welding qualifications to a specific standard, and the listing says so when that applies.

MACA has listed crushing boilermakers for its Goldfields operations on a 2:1 roster flying from Perth. Rosters for maintenance boilermakers are usually 2:1 or 8/6; shutdown crews sometimes run longer swings.
