Olympic Dam FIFO Jobs

-

Olympic Dam is BHP's copper, uranium, gold and silver mine near Roxby Downs in outback South Australia. It is one of the largest underground mines on earth, with its own smelter, refinery and hydrometallurgical plant, and it runs a mixed residential, FIFO and DIDO workforce out of Adelaide.

The jobs

BHP has listed heavy diesel fitters for the mobile fleet, mechanical fitters in the hydrometallurgical plant and electrical technicians on the hoisting systems, all on a 7/7 roster with a choice of flying from Adelaide or driving in. The wider site employs underground operators, jumbo and bogger crews, processing plant operators, metallurgists, boilermakers, HV electricians, instrument technicians and supervisors, plus the village and camp crews that support them.

Getting in

Roxby Downs is about six hours' drive north of Adelaide and has an airport served by charter and commercial flights. Underground roles ask for an underground induction and relevant tickets. Because the ore contains uranium, the site runs its own radiation safety induction, which is provided on start.
