FIFO Rigger and Scaffolder Jobs

Riggers and scaffolders are the backbone of shutdown and construction work on mine sites. Scaffolders build the access for every job at height; riggers and dogmen move the loads, from a crusher liner to a whole conveyor module. Contractors hire these trades FIFO for shutdowns on the fixed plant and for the construction of new plant, and some sites keep a permanent crew.

What employers ask for

A high risk work licence with the relevant classes: basic, intermediate or advanced scaffolding (SB, SI, SA) and basic, intermediate or advanced rigging (RB, RI, RA), plus dogging (DG). Employers state which classes the role needs. Working at heights, confined space and an EWP ticket are usual, and a crane licence adds value. Mining experience is preferred, and some sites want a Standard 11 in Queensland.

Rosters

Shutdown crews work intense short campaigns, sometimes 3:1 or longer for the campaign then off. Construction projects run 3:1 or 4:1 for the project. Permanent site crews follow the site roster.
