Carpenter FIFO Jobs

Carpenters find FIFO work in two places. The first is the villages, which are built from transportable units that need constant repair, refit and expansion. The second is construction projects on mine sites, where formwork carpenters are needed for foundations, plant footings and civil structures. A smaller number of roles sit in site maintenance teams looking after offices, workshops and infrastructure.

What employers ask for

A Certificate III in Carpentry and a white card. Formwork roles want formwork experience specifically and often a dogging or basic rigging ticket. Village maintenance roles are broader and suit a carpenter who is comfortable doing a bit of everything, from doors and decking to minor plumbing and painting.

Rosters

Project work tends to run longer swings, 3:1 or 4:1, for a fixed contract period. Maintenance roles at villages are steadier and usually 2:1 or 14/7. The village operators and the mining contractors both hire carpenters directly, and the listing on this board links to the employer's own page.
