FIFO Jobs for Women

The big mining companies have set public targets for the share of women in their workforce and have built recruitment programs to meet them. That shows up as advertised entry level operator programs for women, traineeships, and general roles where the employer states that it encourages women to apply. Jobs on this page carry that statement from the employer.

What that means in practice

The requirements are the same as for the equivalent role. What differs is that the employer has said it wants applications from women, and in the case of dedicated programs, that it will train from scratch. Haul truck operator programs are the best known example. Villages, processing plants, admin and technical roles all appear as well.

Things worth knowing

Sites now provide separate facilities as standard, and the larger operators have codes of conduct and reporting channels that were not there a decade ago. Rosters, flights, camp and meals are the same as for any other role.
