About the Role
BHP is hiring an Underground Mine Geologist for its Prominent Hill copper and gold operation in South Australia, roughly 650 kilometres north west of Adelaide. The role runs on an 8/6 FIFO roster flying from Adelaide, and sits in the site geology team supporting day to day underground mining and longer term orebody knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, analyse and interpret geological data to build orebody knowledge
- Work with planning and production teams on mine designs, schedules and daily production
- Plan underground diamond drilling programs
- Oversee grade control and reconciliation systems and keep them accurate
- Document and communicate geological observations to technical services and operations
- Identify and implement improvements to geological processes
About You
- Tertiary degree in geoscience
- Hard rock underground experience is preferred but not essential
- Understanding of the operational mining cycle and of grade control systems
- Clear communicator who works well across technical and operational teams
- Genuine commitment to health, safety and environmental performance
