About the Role

Orica is looking for a hands-on Technician for its underground blasting equipment, working in the Mining Services team. You will look after Orica's Hypercharge Drive Units and other underground charging machinery used by mining customers, mainly across Western Australia and South Australia. The role is FIFO, with flights from Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Kalgoorlie or Sydney, on either an 8 days on and 6 off roster or a 15 days on and 13 off roster. Orica says it will train people who are new to underground blasting, so mechanically or electrically minded people from other industries are welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair underground blasting equipment, including Hypercharge Drive Units
  • Find and fix mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and system faults
  • Respond to breakdowns and help customers keep downtime to a minimum
  • Give technical advice and training to customers on site and by phone
  • Carry out inspections, routine servicing and maintenance audits
  • Help install, test and commission new equipment
  • Keep accurate service records and follow site, customer and Orica safety rules

About You

  • Hands-on experience maintaining mobile or fixed plant, or a trade as a light vehicle auto electrician or mechanic
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic or electrical systems
  • Able to diagnose problems and solve them on your own
  • Confident working on customer sites and managing your own workload
  • Clear communicator with a safety-first approach
