About the Role

Fortescue has several Project Hydrogeologist positions across its Pilbara operations. The roles run on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster, FIFO from Perth. You lead a site team of hydrogeologists and field technicians, coordinate water bore drilling, test pumping and hydrogeological investigations, and make the day-to-day technical calls on site with support from a Senior Hydrogeologist.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop site hydrogeologists and field technicians
• Coordinate drilling, test pumping and investigations across several work fronts
• Oversee bore design, construction, testing and contractor work, adjusting plans to field conditions
• Interpret field data and make timely technical decisions
• Run short-term planning and report progress, risks and resourcing to the Senior Hydrogeologist
• Keep safety, QA/QC, data management and reporting to a high standard

About You

• A background in hydrogeology with field program experience
• Experience supervising drilling contractors and test pumping programs
• Confidence leading a small field team
• Sound judgement on technical decisions in changing site conditions
