Plant Metallurgist | Carrapateena | 8/6 FIFO
BHPAbout the Role
BHP is looking for a Plant Metallurgist at Carrapateena, its underground copper-gold mine in South Australia's Gawler Craton, north of Port Augusta. The role works an 8/6 FIFO roster running Tuesday to Tuesday, based in the site's processing plant. You will be the technical voice on the concentrator, finding performance losses and turning them into improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical input on plant operations and identify where throughput, recovery or cost is being lost
- Give operating crews day-to-day and weekly technical guidance
- Scope and deliver moderate-scale improvement projects for safety, throughput and cost
- Investigate plant performance issues and troubleshoot with operations and maintenance
- Help calibrate the Metso OSA and PSI online analysers
- Contribute to safety culture through risk observations and process safety improvements
About You
- Tertiary qualification in metallurgical, process or chemical engineering
- Minerals processing experience at project or plant metallurgist level
- Base metal concentrator experience with SAG milling and sulphide flotation is desirable
- Able to run metallurgical test work and plant trials
- Experience with process improvement projects and working with external stakeholders
