About the Role

BHP is recruiting a Mechanical Fitter for the Hydromet and Solvent Extraction (HYDRO SX) area at Olympic Dam, about 560 km north of Adelaide in South Australia. The roster is 7/7 on a day and night rotation. You can live residentially in Roxby Downs, fly in from Adelaide, drive in from regional South Australia, or bus in from Port Augusta or Roxby Downs. Applications close at midnight South Australian time on Monday 5 October 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance across the hydromet and solvent extraction plant
  • Bring mechanical know-how to reliability improvements on pumps, agitators, valves and fixed plant
  • Work with maintenance and production teams to resolve plant issues quickly and safely
  • Keep work areas safe and orderly to BHP standards
  • Report on job progress and flag emerging risks to the supervisor

About You

  • Australian recognised trade qualification in a mechanical discipline
  • Computer literate, with SAP experience preferred
  • Experience in technical fault-finding and continuous improvement
  • Exposure to hazardous area environments is preferred
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance and WHS legislation
  • Shift work experience preferred, plus a collaborative approach on a rotating crew
