About the Role

Newmont is hiring a Paste Fill Technician for its Tanami operation, an underground gold mine in the Tanami Desert of the Northern Territory, about 540 km northwest of Alice Springs. The role is based at the Dead Bullock Soak underground mine and runs on a FIFO roster of 7 days, 7 nights and 14 days off. Approved points of hire are Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth and Brisbane, and you live in the fully equipped camp while on site. You report to the Backfill and Services Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect and maintain underground paste fill lines and bulkhead walls
  • Carry out line checks and pre-start inspections on paste fill systems
  • Support paste plant start-ups and shutdowns through clear communication
  • Pick up general underground service crew work as needed
  • Complete isolations and follow tag and lockout procedures
  • Use handheld drills such as air legs and stopers when required
  • Keep shift reports, documentation and housekeeping to a high standard

About You

  • Underground mining experience, ideally in service crew or paste fill work
  • Solid grounding in isolation, lockout and zero energy testing
  • Air leg or handheld drilling experience
  • Working at Heights certification is highly desirable
  • Light vehicle and integrated tool carrier RPLs are highly regarded, Senior First Aid is desirable
  • Clean shaven and able to pass a mask fit
  • A valid Australian driver's licence
