About the Role

BHP is hiring a Mine Services Engineer at Olympic Dam, its large underground copper, uranium, gold and silver operation about 560 km north of Adelaide in South Australia. The role works an 8/6 roster (8 days on, 6 days off), either FIFO from Adelaide or living locally in Roxby Downs. Reporting to the Lead Mine Services Engineer, you will turn short term mine plans into safe, workable results underground and help the paste reticulation system run reliably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead safety in the field through hazard identification, investigations and compliance reviews
  • Work with underground crews to put new ideas into practice and build strong cross-team relationships
  • Analyse mine services performance data and prepare reports for other teams
  • Support the ramp-up, optimisation and troubleshooting of the paste reticulation system
  • Coordinate plant and equipment changes with backfill, ventilation, geotechnical, development, scheduling and maintenance teams
  • Work with technology teams on new capabilities

About You

  • A tertiary qualification in mining and civil engineering is ideal, and mechanical engineering will be considered
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Underground mining and paste experience is highly regarded
  • Project management experience, Deswik and Power BI skills are highly regarded
  • Strong time management, problem solving and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Able to pass BHP's pre-employment checks, which can include police, medical, drug and alcohol, right to work and reference checks
