About the Role

BHP is looking for Mine Scheduling Engineers at Prominent Hill, its underground copper-gold operation 650 km north-west of Adelaide. There are openings in both short-term and medium-term scheduling. The role is based on site on an 8/6 FIFO roster, with flights from Adelaide or regional South Australia. A shaft project is extending the mine life to at least 2040.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain short-term or medium-term underground schedules that line up with the longer-term mine plan
  • Track schedule performance and adjust plans as constraints and priorities change
  • Find bottlenecks and work with operations, maintenance, planning and technical services on practical fixes
  • Run and contribute to weekly planning and scheduling meetings
  • Flag scheduling risks and opportunities early so decisions can be made ahead of time
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in scheduling practice

About You

  • A mining engineering qualification or related discipline, or substantial hands-on mining experience
  • Underground hard rock experience with exposure to scheduling or mine planning
  • A working understanding of production, development, rehab, mine services and sublevel open stoping
  • Knowledge of underground ventilation systems
  • Confident with Deswik and Microsoft Office; Power BI and SAP are a plus
  • Strong underground operators without formal scheduling experience are encouraged to apply, with training on offer
