About the Role
Iluka Resources is hiring a Medical and Emergency Services Officer for its Jacinth-Ambrosia mineral sands mine in South Australia, about 270 km north of the Port of Thevenard near Ceduna. This is a permanent, site-based position on an 8/6 roster, flying in and out from Adelaide or Ceduna. You report to the onsite Health and Safety Superintendent. Applications close 21 November 2026, and shortlisting has already started.
Key Responsibilities
- Give first response medical care to employees and contractors for work and non-work injuries and illness
- Take incident command and lead the team at any emergency response
- Keep the volunteer Emergency Response Team ready, with enough members on call, and run its weekly Sunday training
- Write and own site rescue plans, including TARP, confined space, contractor and project work
- Keep medical equipment calibrated and recorded on the calibration register
- Run fitness for work monitoring, particularly drug and alcohol testing
- Advise on how site emergency and medical resources should keep pace with site development and industry practice
About You
- Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue or equivalent, at minimum
- Certificate IV in Health Care, at minimum
- HLTPAT005, collecting specimens for drugs of abuse testing
- Previous work in a heavy industry such as mining, construction, rail, defence or an emergency agency
- Strong leadership, communication and report writing skills, and the ability to build and deliver practical training
- A current driver's licence, full Australian working rights, and a pass in Iluka's pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen
