About the Role

BHP is hiring Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Technicians for the Maintenance and Engineering team at Prominent Hill, its copper-gold operation about 650km north-west of Adelaide. The role looks after the Malu and Ankata paste plants, the processing plant and the infrastructure that supports them. It is a FIFO position flying from Adelaide or Port Augusta on a roster of 8 days on and 6 off, followed by 7 nights on and 7 off. Applications close on Sunday 11 October 2026 at midnight SA time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance, inspections and checks on processing and paste plant equipment
  • Diagnose and help fix faults that affect equipment performance and availability
  • Keep maintenance schedules and equipment history up to date
  • Write and revise operating and maintenance procedures when needed
  • Report plant and equipment status to the relevant teams and keep work areas tidy
  • Follow BHP standards and procedures on every task

About You

  • An Australian recognised Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification (essential)
  • Experience in a similar maintenance role, with fixed plant exposure an advantage but not required
  • A strong safety mindset and the confidence to speak up
  • Sound judgement within your role and the sense to escalate when needed
  • Adaptable and willing to learn as the operation changes
  • Able to pass BHP's pre-employment checks, which can include medical, drug and alcohol testing, police and right to work checks
