Fortescue is looking for an experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic to join the Mobile Maintenance team at its Solomon iron ore mine in the Pilbara. The permanent full-time role runs on a 7 days, 7 nights, 14 off roster (written by Fortescue as 7D7N14R), flying in and out from Perth or Busselton. You will work across site keeping the mobile fleet safe and available. No closing date is listed, and Fortescue notes it may close applications early.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs on light vehicles, trucks and mobile plant
- Diagnose faults and overhaul engines, gearboxes, clutches and brakes
- Complete scheduled and breakdown work, including inspections and oil changes
- Read technical drawings and specifications
- Give clear shift handovers and keep tools and equipment in good order
About You
- An Australian recognised mechanical trade qualification
- Experience maintaining light vehicles, heavy vehicles and mobile plant on a mine site
- Strong fault-finding skills and attention to detail
- Auto electrical, air-conditioning, tyre fitting and wheel alignment experience is highly regarded
- An HR licence and other high risk tickets are highly regarded
