Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Fitter | Moranbah, Central QLD | 7/7 FIFO/DIDO

About the Role

Orica is looking for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Fitter based in Central Queensland, with the job listed at Moranbah in the Bowen Basin. The role works a 7/7 roster with both FIFO and DIDO options, and camp accommodation is provided while you are on roster. You will look after a varied fleet of mobile equipment, Mobile Manufacturing Units (the trucks that make and deliver explosives on the bench) and fixed plant, covering servicing, repairs, breakdowns and technical support.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing, repairs, modifications and breakdown maintenance
• Maintain Mobile Manufacturing Units and fixed plant to SAP Plant Maintenance requirements
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults
• Rebuild product pumps and maintain related equipment
• Assess operating and maintenance risks and act on them
• Give technical support on site and by phone
• Mentor team members and local service contractors
• Spot recurring equipment failures and help fix the root cause

About You

• Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical (Heavy Road Transport) or an equivalent trade qualification
• At least 5 years of trade experience on heavy transport or mobile equipment
• Strong hands-on skills across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• A practical understanding of plant equipment such as skid steer loaders and mobile augers
• Able to obtain the required security clearance
