Geotechnical Engineer | Gruyere near Laverton | 8/6 FIFO/DIDO

Gold Fields is hiring a Geotechnical Engineer for the Gruyere Gold Mine in the Yamarna Greenstone Belt, east of Laverton in Western Australia. This is a permanent position on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster, flying in and out of Perth or driving in from the Goldfields region. You will report to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer and work in a large open pit operation, giving the ground control support that keeps development and production on plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and map pit walls, manage ground control and complete geotechnical sign-offs
- Carry out structural and kinematic assessments and help with slope stability work and design reviews
- Track slope movement with radar, prisms, survey, drone and other monitoring tools
- Investigate rockfalls and ground control events, then write up memos, reports and recommendations
- Prepare daily inputs such as mine plans, drill and blast plans, survey instructions and QAQC records
- Spot geotechnical risks early and build systems to monitor them, working alongside mining, drill and blast, survey and geology teams
About You
- Bachelor's degree in geotechnical, mining or geological engineering
- Geotechnical engineering experience, ideally in hard rock open cut mining
- Hands-on background in geotechnical data collection, mapping and monitoring
- Familiar with Rocscience, Leapfrog, Deswik and Maptek software
- Working knowledge of WA mines safety legislation
- AusIMM membership (Chartered Professional preferred) and a manual driver's licence
