About the Role

BHP is hiring two Emergency Services Officers for its Olympic Dam copper, uranium, gold and silver operation, about 560 km north of Adelaide. The roster is 7 days on, 7 off, 7 nights on, 7 off, worked FIFO from Adelaide or DIDO. One position is permanent and the other is a fixed-term contract running from December 2026 to December 2027. Applications close at 5pm on Friday 9 October 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergencies across the site, including underground and surface rescue, fire, hazardous materials and medical incidents
  • Deliver hands-on training and emergency simulations for on-site volunteer responders
  • Keep response equipment inspected and ready, and maintain your own competencies
  • Support day-to-day safety through workplace inspections and field observations
  • Contribute to health and safety initiatives that lift emergency preparedness across the operation

About You

  • Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue, or equivalent
  • Certificate IV in Health Care, or equivalent
  • Current HR and C class driver's licences
  • Highly regarded: AHPRA registration as a paramedic or nurse, underground mining experience, drug and alcohol testing qualifications, or an emergency services background
  • Able to commit to the 7/7 rotating day and night roster and pass BHP's pre-employment checks
