Emergency Services Officer (12 Month Contract) | Prominent Hill | 8/6 and 7/7 FIFO

About the Role

BHP is recruiting an Emergency Services Officer on a 12 month fixed term contract at the Prominent Hill copper-gold mine, about 650 km north-west of Adelaide. The roster rotates 8 days on, 6 days off, then 7 nights on, 7 days off, flying in and out from Adelaide or Port Augusta. Applications close 5pm Monday 5 October 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to surface and underground fire, rescue, HAZMAT and medical emergencies
• Keep emergency response equipment and vehicles inspected and ready
• Take part in training programs and capability-building exercises
• Conduct work area inspections that support site risk management
• Build relationships with operational teams to keep emergency preparedness front of mind

About You

• Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue, or equivalent
• Certificate IV in Health Care, or an equivalent or higher qualification
• Current HR and C class driver's licences
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to safety and teamwork
• Highly regarded: AHPRA registration as a Paramedic or Registered Nurse, State Emergency Service experience, underground mining experience, and drug and alcohol testing qualifications
