About the Role

BHP is hiring an Electrical Supervisor for the Carrapateena Expansion Project, the underground copper-gold mine about 160 km north of Port Augusta in South Australia. The role works an 8 days on, 6 days off roster on day shift only, flying in and out from Adelaide or Port Augusta. Reporting to the Construction Superintendent, you will lead the contractors delivering high voltage, instrumentation and communications works inside a live brownfield operation. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise contractors and trades through installation, modification and commissioning of electrical infrastructure
  • Coordinate shutdowns, HV isolations and permit-to-work across several work fronts
  • Oversee HV testing, instrumentation loop checks and energisation of underground power upgrades
  • Identify construction risks and make sure critical controls stay in place
  • Track safety, cost, schedule and quality, and keep the project team updated
  • Contribute to procedures, work instructions and handover packages

About You

  • Electrical trade qualification; an instrumentation trade and HV switching experience are a plus
  • Experience supervising electrical construction in mining, heavy industry or major infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of substations, switchgear, transformers, HV cabling and control systems
  • Familiarity with fibre optic, industrial network and mine communication systems
  • A solid grasp of isolations, LOTO and permit systems, and a record of leading safe teams
  • Able to pass BHP's pre-employment checks, including a medical and drug and alcohol testing
