About the Role

BHP is looking for a Superintendent Mine Operations to lead underground mining at Prominent Hill, its copper-gold operation in South Australia. The role is on an 8/6 day shift FIFO roster from Adelaide or Port Augusta. You will lead safe, efficient underground production while supporting mine plans, operational readiness and continuous improvement at a large and complex operation with a long mine life. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead underground mining activities to deliver safe, reliable and efficient results
  • Show visible safety leadership and build a culture where everyone goes home safe
  • Coordinate operational, technical and contractor teams to carry out mine plans
  • Work with engineering and planning to improve mine performance and hit production targets
  • Track performance, spot improvement opportunities and put practical fixes in place
  • Maintain compliance with site standards, QAQC, mining legislation and regulations
  • Coach and develop your team and build accountability

About You

  • Experienced underground mining leader with underground stoping experience
  • Exposure to large underground projects, including operational readiness and contractor management
  • Strong technical grasp of mine design, scheduling, ground support and development
  • Experience with QAQC processes
  • Solid knowledge of Australian mining legislation and work health and safety requirements
  • Proven ability to influence, coach and lead high-performing teams
  • Able to pass BHP's pre-employment checks, which may include police, medical, drug and alcohol, right to work and reference checks
