About the Role

WesTrac is setting up a new Drill Shutdown and Breakdown Team and is looking for experienced Drill Technicians to be founding members. You will fly in from Perth to mine sites across Western Australia to support shutdowns, breakdowns and technical troubleshooting on Caterpillar drill rigs. Rosters are flexible to suit shutdown and breakdown work, typically swings of 8 to 10 days. No closing date is listed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fault find, diagnose and maintain Caterpillar MD6200 to MD6380 drill rigs
  • Carry out breakdown repairs, commissioning support and work that improves machine performance
  • Help plan preventative maintenance, shutdown scopes and troubleshooting
  • Work with customers, WesTrac and Caterpillar specialists on practical technical fixes
  • Complete technical reports and share knowledge across the team
  • Contribute to continuous improvement that lifts equipment availability

About You

  • Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (essential)
  • Post-trade experience on mining equipment (essential)
  • Current driver's licence (essential)
  • Surface mining drill rig experience, ideally on Caterpillar MD6200 to MD6380 models (highly regarded)
  • Field service, shutdown or breakdown experience in mining (highly regarded)
  • Strong diagnostic skills and some low-voltage electrical exposure (highly regarded)
  • Mentoring or technical leadership experience (highly regarded)
