South32About the Role
South32 is looking for a permanent Condition Monitoring Technician at Cannington, its underground silver and lead mine and processing plant in north west Queensland, about 800 km west of Townsville. The role works a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville, or DIDO for people living in the Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires. Flights land at the site's own airstrip. You will track the health of equipment using vibration analysis, thermography and oil analysis, and turn that data into maintenance advice. The advert closes on Tuesday 6 October 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, report on and manage equipment condition using vibration analysis and thermography
- Carry out inspections, preventative maintenance and lubrication tasks
- Collect and manage samples and data sent for offsite analysis
- Raise work orders and keep SAP data accurate for reliability analysis
- Advise on equipment condition and ways to improve maintenance strategy
About You
- A mechanical trade qualification and/or a mechanical engineering qualification
- Class C or higher driver's licence
- ISO CAT 1 in vibration analysis, thermography, and machinery lubrication and oil analysis preferred
- EWP ticket, or willing to complete the training
- First aid and CPR, or willing to obtain them
- Good written and verbal communication, and Microsoft Office skills, with SAP experience an advantage
