Bench Assistant | Central Queensland Coal | 7/7 DIDO

About the Role

Orica is recruiting multiple Bench Assistants for its North Surface Coal team in Central Queensland. These are drive-in drive-out roles, mostly on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster, with camp accommodation provided while you are on roster. You will work on the blast pattern alongside shotfirers and on-bench supervisors, helping load, tie in and fire blasts at open-cut coal mines.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist shotfirers and Mobile Manufacturing Unit (MMU) truck operators
• Help deliver explosive products and load blast holes
• Work closely with your crew to give customers a high standard of service
• Put safety first on every shift and set the example for others
• Act with integrity and respect at all times

About You

• A work history in physically demanding jobs in all weather
• Able to pass the security checks for a Queensland Explosives Security Clearance, which needs a clean criminal history
• Able to pass a pre-employment medical including a drug and alcohol screen
• A positive, team-first attitude
• Basic mechanical understanding is an advantage but not essential
• Keen to learn and build a career in blasting
