Operations Scheduling Engineer | Cannington near McKinlay | 8/6 FIFO/DIDO

About the Role

South32 is looking for an Operations Scheduling Engineer at Cannington, its underground silver and lead mine in north west Queensland. You will help the operations team deliver the weekly mining schedule. The position is permanent on an 8:6 roster, FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville, or DIDO from the Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires. Flights land at the site airport. The advert closes on Tuesday 13 October 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the weekly mining schedule through daily re-alignment meetings and follow-up actions
• Act as the daily problem solver for the execution team to reduce idle time
• Scope work to support weekly and monthly schedule delivery
• Work with the short-term scheduling and operations teams to meet targets
• Identify and suggest improvements to underground mining operations

About You

• Experience in underground mining operations
• Knowledge of stoping, development, drill and blast, ventilation, backfill or short-term planning
• Deswik Ops experience is highly regarded
• Trade or degree qualified, or industry experience with a relevant qualification
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Current driver's licence
